It is with great sadness we inform the tragic loss of Paul Oberman, DX Executive Board Member and President and CEO, Woodcliffe Landmark Properties as a result of an aviation accident on Monday, March 7, 2011. Paul was a tremendous supporter of the design and arts community. As a Board Member of Design Exchange (DX) he was actively involved in the long-term strategic plan and a tremendous advocate for the preservation of heritage buildings. Paul was also known for restoring Toronto’s Gooderham Flatiron Building and his adaptation of Summerhill’s train station as flagship liquor store.
“Paul was a visionary leader and inspired us all to achieve greatness. His passing leaves a huge void in our community. His expertise, time, enthusiasm and friendship have been invaluable to us and will be deeply missed.” Tim Gilbert, Chairman DX Board and long-standing Flatiron tenant. Samantha Sannella, President and CEO of DX recalls, “Paul was one of the most generous people I’ve ever encountered. He never hesitated to support DX initiatives and give his time and financial support to our organization. We collaborated on several projects and he always had the biggest ideas in the group. Our entire team will miss him greatly.” Heartfelt sympathies are extended to his family, friends and Woodcliffe team.
