Halcrow Yolles adds new leadership for building structures practice

One of the largest structural engineering firms in Toronto, Halcrow Yolles welcomes two new senior additions to the leadership team of its building structures practice: senior principal, David Bannister and senior associate, Ken Sissakis.

David brings more than 30 years of experience in increasingly senior roles in the management of engineering teams and groups, and in the design and design management of a wide variety of significant structures including hospitals, justice/police facilities, school/university buildings, performing arts centres, recreational facilities, arenas and sports complexes, computer centres, transit facilities and automotive and industrial facilities.

He has been involved in many projects requiring innovative solutions to complex structural engineering challenges resulting from unusual or specialized building form or performance requirements. Before joining Halcrow Yolles, David was a partner and vice president, structural engineering at MMM Group Ltd. And prior to that a partner with Carrurthers and Wallace Ltd.

Ken is a structural engineering professional with a degree in architecture from the University of Toronto. His most recent post was at Halsall Associates Limited. He has a proven track record in the analysis, project planning, design and delivery of engineering solutions for multi-million dollar projects. His experience includes the Majdoul Tower in Saudi Arabia, Quantum-Nano Centre at the University of Waterloo and Renaissance ROM in Toronto.

Commenting on both appointments, Michael Della Rocca, Group board director and President, North America, Halcrow said: “The investment in these highly regarded individuals reaffirms our long-term commitment to the building marketplace, not only in Toronto, but across the whole of North America and around the world. Our Toronto office is home to many of the firm’s most talented structural engineers. The investment in these new senior leaders will bring new energy and drive to our buildings practice both in this office and abroad. And we will continue to attract world-class talent to our Toronto office as part of our long term strategy.”
