Request for qualifications issued for three Ontario hospital redevelopment projects

A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) was issued by the Ontario provincial government for project teams to build and finance the expansion and redevelopment of three hospitals across Ontario – Lakeridge Health Corporation, Royal Victoria Hospital and Windsor Regional Hospital.

Once qualified project teams have been short-listed through the evaluation process, they will be invited to submit project-specific Requests for Proposals (RFP). The RFPs are expected to be issued in early to mid-2008.

The Lakeridge Health Corporation’s Oshawa hospital redevelopment project will include new construction, renovations and bring into use the six in-patient floors above the Durham Regional Cancer Centre.

The Royal Victoria Hospital Phase I Expansion Project will nearly double the size of the existing hospital and includes the addition of the Simcoe-Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre.

The Windsor Regional Hospital project includes construction of a new building at the hospital’s Western Campus, as well as renovations to update existing facilities to accommodate rehabilitation and longer-term mental health programs.

Lakeridge Health’s Oshawa project is expected to begin in winter 2009; the Royal Victoria Hospital project is expected to begin in fall 2008; and the Windsor Regional Hospital project is expected to begin in spring 2009.
