On Sept. 19 Toronto-based Bregman + Hamann (B+H) announced its acquisition of the operations of the Los Angeles and Calgary-based firm, Habitar.
Habitar was created in 2001 by then principals Guy and Heidi Painchaud who will now act as vice presidents of interior design at B+H.
Heidi Painchaud said that B+H’s commitment to a fully integrated model of architecture and interior design was one of the main aspects that solidified the relationship between the two firms, adding “We share a common philosophy that good design is good business.”
B+H has worked with Habitar in the past on projects such as a major laboratory/office complex in downtown Toronto and the Ottawa Congress Centre Redevelopment as well as projects across Europe.
“The fit between the firms has been excellent,” said Bill Nankivell, CEO of B+H. “Their client-centric approach, broad range of services and both North American and global experience has garnered a strong client base and international accolades.”
With a 55 year history, B+H has built a portfolio of work that includes current projects in Canada, Asia, the Middle East and Europe and a staff of more than 250 in offices throughout the world.
