Winners announced for competition to “Reconnect the Waterfront”


ULI Toronto, a District Council of the Washington D.C.-based Urban Land Institute (ULI), has announced the winners of the inaugural Urban Ideas Competition at a public Awards Ceremony event which took place Wednesday evening at Malaparte in the TIFF Bell Lightbox.  In recent weeks, visionary proposals were submitted to ULI Toronto with ideas to reconnect the City of Toronto with its waterfront. The jury team consisted of a panel of highly respected urban professionals who reviewed the submissions, and prizes were awarded to the following teams within the categories of ‘People’s Choice’, ‘Site Specific’ and ‘Overall Vision’.

People’s Choice Winner:”Green Deck City” Line Architecture Group. 

Team members: Loghman Azar, (team leader), Vadim Novik, Kiarash Safavi, Ben Namini, Mahshid Mohajer, Thea Karlavaris, Vivian Lok, Oscar Rodriguez-Gonzalez, Jacki Vandervelde, Joaquin Sevillano, Audric Montuno & Sahara Azar.

Site Specific Winner:  “ReVAMP”

Team members: Carolyn Rowan & Robyn Whitwham.

Overall Vision Winner: “Inundation” – Dillion Consulting Ltd.  

Team members: Merrilees Willemse, Martina Braunstein, Kiran Chhiba, Mark Hillmer & Jay Leasa.

The Winning submissions, as well as all the other submissions, will be on display from April 25th to May 9th 2014 in the Eaton Centre Towers Lobbies (250 Yonge St. and 1 Dundas St. west).
