Zeidler Partnership Architects has been selected to lead the planning, design and compliance aspects of the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital project being constructed in Vaughan at Major Mackenzie Drive and Jane Street. Their job is to establish the guidelines and performance requirements that the chosen building team must meet when preparing their designs. They will also lead the team that will monitor construction progress and provide coordination and oversight services throughout the course of the project. Once the planning, design and compliance aspects are completed, the hospital and Infrastructure Ontario will issue a request for qualifications for a company to design, build, finance and maintain the project, using the alternative financing and procurement model.
The new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital will include: a state-of-the-art emergency department; modern surgical services and operating rooms; acute inpatient and intensive care beds; technologically-advanced diagnostic imaging; specialized ambulatory clinics; single acute care patient rooms for infection prevention and control; a flexible design to permit adaptation over time as new thinking and best practices emerge.
