The Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) has appointed Peter Halsall as president and CEO of the Toronto-based not for profit organization, established in 1990.
“Peter shares the CUI’s strong commitment to urban success and we look forward to working with him to strengthen our influence and impact on critical urban issues across the country,” commented Caryl Arundel, Chair of the Board of Directors of CUI.
A name recognizable to many, Halsall is an award-winning engineer and entrepreneurial businessman who has led the growth of a number of innovative companies, beginning with expansion of employee-owned Halsall Associates to a firm of more than 300 people located in eight offices across Canada. Halsall Associates was consistently identified as one of Canada’s best workplaces by the Great Places to Work Institute. Peter has also launched two successful consulting companies, Pivotal Projects Ltd and Loop Initiatives Ltd. as part of the Halsall group.The company was purchased by Parsons Brinckerhoff Brinckerhoff in 2010, for which he served as the Global Sustainability Lead.
