Doug Webber, executive vice president at Halsall Associates, has been honoured with an Individual Award for exceptional leadership in promoting and advocating for green building and sustainability. The award was presented at the CaGBC Greater Toronto Chapter Gala and Awards Program on October 16, 2014.
Webber is a Professional Engineer and LEED Accredited Professional with over 20 years’ experience in green development. His pioneering thinking and commitment to the highest standards have created impressive sustainability results in new buildings, existing building renewal projects, and urban planning initiatives.
At Halsall, he developed a team that has contributed to some of Canada’s most successful green projects, including:
- Waterfront Toronto’s LEED ND Gold project and its Minimum Green Building Requirements (winner of the GLOBE Foundation’s 2012 Award for Excellence in Urban Sustainability);
- New Build Projects, including Evergreen at the Brickworks (which has won multiple awards, including the 2014 CaGBC GTA Chapter Innovation in LEED Award for New Construction – Core & Shell), the PWC Tower in downtown Toronto, and the University of British Columbia Student Union Building in Vancouver; and
- Existing Building Renewal Projects, including Royal Bank Plaza (Canada’s first LEED EB Gold Bank tower) and Waterpark Place (LEED EB Platinum, Canada’s first recertification), both in Toronto.
