| Main Body | Great Places is pleased to announce an evening presentation by Cameron Cartiere, Dean of Graduate Studies at Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver. This free public event will occur at the Frances Morrison Library in Saskatoon on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 7:00pm. Dr. Cartiere will discuss how public art builds great city spaces and vibrant communities. Cameron Cartiere holds a PhD from the University of Arts London, Chelsea College of Art & Design where her dissertation examined the role of place-specificity in public art. She is a writer and researcher specializing in public art, urban renewal, sculpture parks, cultural heritage and curatorial practice. Cartiere is the author of RE/Placing Public Art, co-editor of the book The Practice of Public Art, co-author of The Manifesto of Possibilities: Commissioning Public Art in the Urban Environment (www.manifestoofpossibilities.co.uk) and author of the online resource, The International Directory of Sculpture Parks & Gardens (www.bbk.ac.uk/sculptureparks). Following the presentation, please join Great Places for a reception across the street at The Bassment for conversation, appetizers and a cash bar, with music from their Jazz Jam featuring the David Fong Trio.
